Good Lord I am tired. You should see the state of my feet. (shudder) Excessive Festing can really take a lot out of a person.
However! The Princess looked lovely in her costume, which is not allowed back into my home till January, when I am going to add some beading to it and make some changes. Until then it is at her home, in an enforced time out. Sometimes you just need a break, and we are taking one, the costume and I.
isn't she just the cutest?
I wore EIGHT different costumes to fests this year. Of these 8, SEVEN are still in my possession. I believe that might be some kind of record. Here we have a pictorial history of my year in Renaissance Fashion:
Twig Festival, Minnesota, June 2008 (Now in Lady SM's possession, and blinged out all to hell. Check the prior post.)
Bristol Faire, Waukesha WI, Aug. 2008, Day 1 (Yikes - Five head AND hoops showing. For shame. The bodice now belongs to another, and this costume has a new faux leather bodice.)
Bristol Faire, Waukesha WI, Aug. 2008, Day 2 (Now finished with hand beading.)
MNRF Wine Weekend, Sept. 2008 Day 1 (with Cheap Chick and Standing Still - the plastic skull goblet was very popular)
MNRF Wine Weekend, Sept. 2008 Day 2 (so very very wet - 4 cloaks made in 1 night - note the authentic mug hanging from my belt made by the lovely Standing Still)
MNRF Italian Weekend, Sept. 2008 (The 3 hour dress. Looks much nicer in person.)
MNRF Final Weekend, Day 1 (Bring on the fake hair, I say!)
MNRF Final Weekend, Sept. 2008, Day 2 (I should improve my posture.)
The Wench Posse (minus GFC and HaC) on the last weekend, Day 2. I took off my Ye Olde Cat's Eye Glasses for later pix.
All in all, a successful Faire Season. We of the Wench Posse are such incredible nerds that we are already planning for next year. And it will be SPECTACULAR! Oh, the fun we have planned...
Incidentally, all but that very first costume ON ME ONLY are currently available for sale. (Pirate E on the end is also selling her costume.) Contact me via e-mail if you are interested - I can't possibly keep them all. I haven't the closet space. (Accessories sometimes included. Not the noble hat, though. I love that hat.)
I also have some confirmed and potential commissioned costumes afoot. How delightful for someone soon to be unemployed this coming Wednesday...
I have learned lots this festive season. I have learned that more petticoats are better in hiding hoops. I have learned that acetate causes ass sweat, and it is not pretty. I have learned that cloaks made out of a polypropolene type fabric ROCK. I have learned that I am a shlumpy poser, and should stand upright more. And finally, I have learned that if I do not pre-wash my fabric I should at the very LEAST iron out the fold line. Sheesh.
I leave you with these words of wisdom - Huzzah!:
Well met! You look fabulous, but I must insist on one thing:
KEEP ONE OF YOUR COSTUMES. Preferrably the Madam Wench one - it's soooooo pretty. That way, if push comes to shove, you'll have something to wear.
